sparkling darkly

monologues written by nick coyle

Sparkling Darkly is a collection of funny, moving and eclectic monologues from the wildly creative brain of Nick Coyle, a screenwriter on Stan's 'Bump' and writer of 'The Feather in the Web' (Griffin/Red Stitch). A best man toast, retirement morning tea, victim impact statement, a eulogy, an unravelling community radio host: these characters make the strange mundane and the mundane strange, sometimes with a touch of the supernatural and always with laugh out loud humour and an unexpected gut-punch of emotion.

The initial two week season at the Old Fitz Theatre had a stellar cast: Claudia Karvan, Sandy Gore, Ed Oxenbould, Anna Houston & Andre de Vanny. Every performance sold out and the team are excited to re-mount.

Joyous, hilarious, uplifting and can be shaped to suit your venue.

“A moveable feast”

We would love to talk about how we can make this magical show work for your venue, festival or event.

“Sparkly Darkly is a breath of fresh air - it’s wild, witty and heartfelt. Nick’s writing is unique and original and bloody funny.

The audiences loved it. One of my quite hard-to-please friends said it was her idea of a perfect night out.

The writing is so clever. I’d love to have a chance to play the inimitable Jocelyn again.”
